• Forums Upgraded to vBulletin 4.0

I've upgraded the forums to vBulletin 4.0.

Some of you may be wondering why I would do such a thing. The old main site was based on a joomla+vbulletin bridge which was literally a huge pain in [my] the ass. And as such, I never updated. It was quite a broken system and just didn't work well. I also had security concerns with running joomla; they don't exactly have a good track record. It is also quite a bit harder to update two sites instead of one, especially with the bridge mod.

Some of you may not like the new theme, but really, it’s not that bad. I knew that people would be divided with the likes and dislikes of vBulletin 4.0 prior to the upgrade. I plan to port, and actually complete the old theme and integrate it into vBulletin. There has also been talk about porting the oivar theme to vBulletin 4.0 by a few forum members, though that will be up to them.

As for now, blogging is enabled to any registered user group. I may or may not keep it this way depending on the amount of moderation these blogs require.

Looks good for vBulletin. +1 to them for making a decent looking default theme for once.

Thanks for the updates Absolution. <3

Just noticed, the "Blog This Post" button at the bottom left corner of every post seems to repeat itself for every post in a topic. Such as first persons post will have one button, next post will have two, next three, etc. This seems to go indefinitely and breaks the template after about 8-10 posts.

Quick reply would be a must-have for replying to these frontpage posts. I don't even remember what we were talking about.

--Oh NVM I see I can just reply on the forum.

I like it so far, and if it's more secure, so much more the better!

There were some problems with the forums, you may have gotten a message similar to:

The service is no longer avalible. or something to that effect. It is now fixed.

there is a small bug with url rewriting:

when searching for newposts, there is a link to go to the newest post at every topic result,
the rewritten url ends up like this:
      http://forum.gamedeception.net/showt...0-182&p=131921
      but it should be
      http://forum.gamedeception.net/showt...182#post131921
